Public Relations Chair

The Troop Public Relations Chair is appointed by the committee chairman to inform parents of their responsibilities in Scouting and with the chartered organization.

Qualifications:

Is at least 21 years old, subscribes to the Declaration of Religious Principle, and agrees to abide by the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Possesses the moral, educational, and emotional qualities that the Boy Scouts of America deems necessary to afford positive leadership to youth. Is appointed by the Committee Chairman to serve as its official Scouting representative and is registered as an adult leader of the BSA other than the Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster

Resposibilites:

The Public Relations Chairman’s responsibilities are to

  • Stimulate Troop service projects in the chartered organization, school, and community.
  • Promote family participation in all troop events Court Of Honors and other special events.
  • Urge Troop participation in appropriate programs of Hillcrest Vol Fire Co, the chartered organization,  Suggest ways of showing interest in the chartered organization’s overall program.
  • Urge Troop participation is special Scouting activities such as the worship service on Scout Sunday or Scout Sabbath of their church or synagogue that the Boy Scouts are members of.
  • Publicize and promote Troop participation in Scouting Anniversary Week activities.
  • Circulate Boy Scout recruiting fliers and leaflets to invite boys to join. Work with the Troop committee to promote new membership. Let the people in the neighborhood know that a Boy Scout troop is available.
  • Consider using a monthly or quarterly Troop newsletter to inform families of Troop plans, guide new parents and guardians in troop policies, and create a feeling of unity among members of the troop family.
  • Provide troop announcements for regular release in the official bulletins, newsletters, Web sites, etc., of Hillcrest Vol. Fire Co.
  • Make use of the news media in publicizing troop events.
  • Promotes and stimulates service projects,
  • Promote family participation in Troop events.
  • Promote new membership and lets people in the neighborhood know that Scouting is available.
